What exactly happens at the conference?

The annual conference provides a unique opportunity to interact with campus leaders from institutions across the nation, and the chance to learn from and alongside future professionals from a wide variety of disciplines. With speakers, workshops, and projects devoted specifically to the Blue Key founding principles of Leadership, Scholarship, and Service, members who attend often leave with a deepened understanding of the role those values can play in their lives going forward.

Paramount to the success of our organization is the free and open exchange of ideas about student leadership, and the annual conference provides unparalleled access to the ideas, strategies, and methods utilized by schools undertaking similar projects on their own campuses. Additionally, the conference has a valuable social component to it, giving students an unstructured time of fellowship with one another, something often lacking in the busy lives and overfilled schedules of student leaders. The annual conference exists not only to strengthen bonds between different chapters but also to strengthen bonds within chapters, the ultimate goal being to create more organized, efficient chapters while bolstering members’ individual capabilities to serve as more effective, confident student leaders.

What are the benefits of attending the conference?

-sense of connection to a greater national organization.

-casual and professional networking between chapters and members.

-professional development and presentations by leaders in the field of leadership, scholarship, and service.

-opportunity to generate ideas for your chapter from other chapters.

-Participate (and potentially run for) the National Board of Directors for Blue Key Honor Society (both for Student and Advisor board positions available).

The 2019 Blue Key National Leadership Conference will be hosted at The University of Nevada, Reno  January 18th – 20th 2019!

The University of Nevada, Reno was founded in 1874 as the State University of Nevada in Elko, Nev., about 300 miles northeast of its present-day campus in Reno. The site for the university preparatory school in eastern Nevada (where no state institutions had previously been located) proved to be impractical, as nearly half of the state’s residents lived in the Reno-Carson City area. In 1885, the legislature approved the move of the University from Elko to Reno.

Early Bird Registration Payment is due by Dec. 1, 2018, and is $125.00 per participant. Registration after December 1, 2018, is $150.00 per participant. There is a limit of 16 participants per chapter. Pay by PayPal or Check. Chapters should make checks payable to Blue Key Honor Society. Email your chapter’s registration form to Mr. Danny Buckalew at director@bluekey.org.

*NOTE THAT REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED AFTER DECEMBER 7TH WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED ON SPACE AND AVAILABILITY BASIS AS PER THE HOTEL*

Make plans to attend and take advantage of learning leadership principles, networking with colleagues from across the nation’s Blue Key chapters and receiving recognition for outstanding individuals and chapters affiliated with Blue Key.

Mark your calendar! The conference begins at dinner time Friday night January 18, 2019.
